Euphorbia characias originates in areas around the Mediterranean sea, where it prefers to grow in dry and rocky areas. It does not mind the salty terrains, making it a perfect plant for coastal gardens.

Euphorbia characias ‘Black Pearl’ has narrower flower spikes than many of the more familiar spurge cultivars but each cupped lime-green flower is dotted with a black centre giving a striking contrast.
