Plant Biography

All Trachelospermum are native to South and East Asia. The generic name was created from the Greek words for ‘neck seed’, in reference to the shape of the plants’ seeds. Jasminoides means ‘looks like jasmine,’ as despite its very similar flowers and fragrance this plant is not actually related to the true jasmine species.

It is sometimes called ‘Trader’s Compass’ from an interesting old belief in Uzbekistan that the plant directed traders of good character in the right direction.

Expert Tip

The heady floral display, beloved by pollinators, is most abundant in a sunny position. However this is also a really useful evergreen foliage plant to cloak shadier walls even if there will be fewer flowers.
Care & Size Guidance

Care & Size Guidance

This climber likes well drained soils, and can even grow well in a large trough or pot if watered well in the warmer months. You will need to provide wires or trellis for it to clamber up.

I can’t recommend the Palm Centre enough! My Jasmine arrived yesterday, incredibly well packaged (to the point where not one leaf had come off)! The plant is well established, really healthy and the perfect size! I will definitely be coming back for more!

Bought 2 large plants. Very reasonable price. They arrived quickly and were very well packed – good condition and substantial growth already on plants.

Mandy

Ordered three of various sizes. All really healthy and well packaged, delivered very quickly. They are now planted and trained against an arbour and a trellis- new growth is strong and healthy even though the weather has been miserable here!

Lucy
