Musa: an exclusive, tropical plant, native to South East Asia. In the wild these ‘trees’ produce small purple flowers which morph into inedible tiny bananas; the reason the Musa is also known as a banana tree or ornamental banana.  The green unfolding leaves with their purplish-red spots impart an individual effect to the plant. As a tropical plant, the Musa much prefers a hot spot in the sun. The ideal temperature for the Musa would be a stable 20 degrees throughout the year. There are not many who would object to that...

Care tips:

  • Light, sunny spot.
  • Ideal temperature 18 - 25 ºC.
  • Keep damp, compost must not dry out.
  • Water in the saucer/decorative pot.
  • Apply fertiliser twice a month.
  • Suitable for anywhere in the house.
  • Needs good airflow.

Outdoor plants pot sizes
Indoor plants pot sizes

Sometimes the pot size might vary slightly from the standard or we might listed as 2-3 litre pot, depending on the growers we purchased them from. However, the sizes of the plants are similar in height and spread.

Sometimes the plants might be photographed in decorative pots. However, please bear in mind that our plants are kept in plastic nursery pots.

Plants measurements
Plant measurements

For all the indoor plants, the height of the pot is included in the listed height. The height is measured from the bottom of the pot to the highest leaf or branch of the plant.

Due to natural growth, the size of the plants might vary slightly. All plants are measured and categorised when they are brought into our nursery, however, over time, the actual size might change due to growth, adjustment to the environment etc.

With items such as ferns, juvenile tree ferns and herbaceous plants it is difficult to give the exact size of each species when such a wide range of plants are grown so we specify standard pot sizes to give an indication of the size and/or age of the plant you are buying.

Sometimes the pot size might vary slightly from the standard or we might listed as 2-3 litre pot, depending on the growers we purchased them from. However, the sizes of the plants are similar in height and spread.

For the outdoor plants, that are meant to be planted in the ground, the height of the pot is excluded from the measurement. The height is measured from the top of the pot to the tallest leaf or branch of the plant.

All plants are measured when brought to our nursery, however, due to natural factors, the actual size of the plant might change over time due to adjustments to the environment. When picking multiple plants for an order, we aim to pick matching plants.

GENERAL CARE

Palm trees are one of the most popular choices for indoor plants to grow. They provide the majestic beauty of a tropical garden and the ease of care. The less mature palms can be used as a desk plant for a small office and even in bathrooms of some homes.

An inevitable problem encountered by growing palms indoors is the amount of dust that builds up on the leaves over time.

WATERING

The soil in the pots should be kept moist and never be allowed to dry out. During the summer months you will be watering as much as twice per week to maintain moisture levels, whereas in winter you should water sparingly.
