The Golden Cane Palm (areca palm) is most likely the most widely sold palm in the world. Where climate allows growing this graceful and majestic palm outside it is extensively planted used as a landscape specimen.
The rest of us can enjoy its arching, feathey leaves in the house, conservatory or greenhouse.
A position in bright light to full sun will suit this beautiful palm best, bringing out the colour of the trunks and leaf bases. Other than that regular watering, feeding, and a moist buoyant atmosphere will help prevent Dypsis lutescens from getting leaf-tip drying and red spider mites.

We can guarantee that the plants leave our nursery disease free, but weather and local conditions might affect their survival. Make sure you always make an informed purchasing decision.
The plants that leave our nursery are in the best condition, free of disease. Kept in adequate conditions (positioning and care), the plants are guaranteed for 3 months if they are planted in the ground or one year if they are kept in their original pots. Return policy applies only to plants that are in their original pots.
Due to the nature of the consignments, the courier's drivers are not insured to carry goods through your property. The standard delivery location is the border of your property or the entrance of a communal space. If other arrangements need to be made, please get in touch with us as soon as the order is placed.
Vouchers and small boxes can be posted through the letterbox, provided there is unrestricted access to it.
Palm trees are one of the most popular choices for indoor plants to grow. They provide the majestic beauty of a tropical garden and the ease of care. The less mature palms can be used as a desk plant for a small office and even in bathrooms of some homes.
An inevitable problem encountered by growing palms indoors is the amount of dust that builds up on the leaves over time.
The soil in the pots should be kept moist and never be allowed to dry out. During the summer months you will be watering as much as twice per week to maintain moisture levels, whereas in winter you should water sparingly.
Usually bought together
Buying a plant unseen, particularly when it has to be delivered by a courier, can be risky, but not so with the two palms we bought from The Palm Centre. They both looks amazingly healthy, well balanced proportion-wise and we will be ordering more soon!
A perfect purchase. Bought one Dyspis lutescens and 2 Chamaedorea elegans. All arrived in prime condition, packaging excellent. Delivery had to be delayed because of extreme cold weather. The plants were a gift and I was told that I could run the risk, if I chose to go ahead anyway, but I am glad I accepted their advice not to. These people are obviously professionals to be trusted.

Plant is bushier than the pic and was damaged in transit with the pot broken. I sent an email and had no reply. Not much else to say but I wouldn't buy from them again.

Palm Centre Reply: Dear Elisabeth, we're so sorry for missing your email. Very pleased with my purchase. I I received a very healthy, and great looking palm. Once I had planted and positioned in the chosen room it looked fantastic. The grandchildren love it as well. The packaging and distribution is worth a mention because it arrived at the scheduled time and the Tufnell driver was very courteous and helpful.
Received my Butterfly Palm Tree (Dypsis lutescens) today and was most impressed with both the size and quality of the palm. I had ordered the larger size 160/180cm tall and it already looks so mature and established as if it has been growing in my lounge for years. It was packaged very thoroughly and arrive in perfect condition. Would certainly buy through the PalmCentre again.
I bought the smallest (7litre) plant along with two other (larger) palms to revitalise my conservatory. This one is now positioned in my green jardinière, looking fab and with plenty of room to grow. It is a very healthy specimen with glossy leaves and offsets the Phoenix roebelenii and Beaucarnia recurvata perfectly. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of all three plants and the six ferns also purchased. Delivery excellent and good communication (check junk mail for confirmation).
The palm I received is really stunning, beautifully shaped and larger than I thought it would be. This is one of a total of 3 palms I ordered and I am very pleased with all three. I will be ordering more, including another of these. Delivery took only 4-5 days and the palm arrived in perfect condition.

Can't say I was too impressed with the plant or service. When ordering I never received a confirmation email for my order or tracking details, and when it did randomly arrive it was poorly packaged and had brown tips. Not really acceptable. Proceed with caution

The Palm Centre reply: Hi J, we do apologize for the issues you've had with your order. The website sends automatically emails for order confirmation and despatch notification. However, sometimes, these get filtered by some free email providers as they are wrongly classified as spam. With regards to your delivery, we are working with our courier partner to constantly improve the service they provide to our customers, given the unusual shapes of our parcels. Brown tips on mature leaves are not uncommon and they do not affect the plant's survival.
