Naturally a tall single trunked, many branched tree, here in the UK Cordyline australis rarely reaches giant proportions as, inevitably, it will be cut back by cold. Recent winters have demonstrated that plants reduced to ground level will usually re-sprout from the base and quickly regain some size. In fact few plants are as undemanding and tolerant: from the wet salt-laden gales of the southwest to the parched eastern counties, Cabbage trees abound, quickly growing into architectural specimens. Vast spikes of scented flowers in late summer can fill a garden with perfume - resultant seed laden trusses help birds through winter.
With items such as ferns, juvenile tree ferns and herbaceous plants it is difficult to give the exact size of each species when such a wide range of plants are grown so we specify standard pot sizes to give an indication of the size and/or age of the plant you are buying.
Sometimes the pot size might vary slightly from the standard or we might listed as 2-3 litre pot, depending on the growers we purchased them from. However, the sizes of the plants are similar in height and spread.
Sometimes the plants might be photographed in decorative pots. However, please bear in mind that our plants are kept in plastic nursery pots.
For the outdoor plants, that are meant to be planted in the ground, the height of the pot is excluded from the measurement. The height is measured from the top of the pot to the tallest leaf or branch of the plant.
All plants are measured when brought to our nursery, however, due to natural factors, the actual size of the plant might change over time due to adjustments to the environment. When picking multiple plants for an order, we aim to pick matching plants.
Most palms need tropical or subtropical temperatures, but there are some suitable for planting outdoors in the British Isles. Hardy palms are invaluable as structural plants in tropical-style gardens and look effective when planted with bananas, bamboos and New Zealand flax.
Hardy palm trees can be planted at any time of the year, but ideally it should be done during spring and summer.
Try to dig a hole a good deal bigger than the root-ball, which should be given a good soak before planting. Back-fill the hole with a free draining mix
Water thoroughly. This will be beneficial to the establishment of the root system. If planting during a dry spell, water the hole first, allow to drain, plant, back-fill, and then water again.
We can guarantee that the plants leave our nursery disease free, but weather and local conditions might affect their survival. Make sure you always make an informed purchasing decision.
The plants that leave our nursery are in the best condition, free of disease. Kept in adequate conditions (positioning and care), the plants are guaranteed for 3 months if they are planted in the ground or one year if they are kept in their original pots. Return policy applies only to plants that are in their original pots.

<p>Positive, plant bigger than expected, that's the only positive I'm afraid. Superb plant, healthy and bigger than I expected.Well packaged, cant wait to watch it grow.
Delivered well within the stated time, well packaged and seemingly in good condition. One very small and insignificant gripe and that was that I received no e-mail to say that the item had been dispatched. All in all a very pleasing transaction which will be repeated as and when.
I had been in contact with the Palm Centre as we have a mature (25 /30 year old Cordyline australis in the garden and wanted another. I needed delivery guaranteed within a particular time scale and the Palm Centre was very helpful in bumping my order to the earliest possible dispatch. The plant (a juvenile) arrived the next day and was well-packaged and healthy, and slightly taller than specified. Happy to recommend the Palm Centre.
Bigger than expetced which was nice, wrapped well, no issues here, and far cheaper than a garden centre. Would use again
I ordered the 80/100cm Cordyline australis. It was well established, healthy and slightly bigger than anticipated.
