Plant Biography

‘Green Lady’ is a cultivar of Nephrolepis exaltata, which grows wild in South and Central America and the West Indies. Its usual native habitats are humid dappled places such as swamps and forests – explaining its desire for humidity and indirect lighting when grown in the home.

This fern is a symbol of good luck and is said to bring prosperity and abundance to its owners.

It is also known to be a natural air purifier, able to remove toxins from the air. Many sources list Nephrolepis as one of the top choices for improving air quality in the home, ranked at number 9 out of NASA’s top 50 air purifying plants.
