Fargesia robusta 'Campbell'Full sun to shade, moist well-drained soil
Fargesia robusta, as the species name implies, is one of the more robust growing Fargesia bamboos. Although variable it is typically upright and tall, withstanding more exposure than many and has a tight, non-invasive clumping habit. It is one of the earliest bamboos to break soil in spring - an event much heralded in bamboo growing circles! - and the persistent white culm sheaths contrast beautifully with the dark green canes to give what is often described as a chequerboard effect. The form 'Campbell' is particularly upright and robust in character - suited perfectly to screening and hedging.

We can guarantee that the plants leave our nursery disease free, but weather and local conditions might affect their survival. Make sure you always make an informed purchasing decision.
The plants that leave our nursery are in the best condition, free of disease. Kept in adequate conditions (positioning and care), the plants are guaranteed for 3 months if they are planted in the ground or one year if they are kept in their original pots. Return policy applies only to plants that are in their original pots.
Due to the nature of the consignments, the courier's drivers are not insured to carry goods through your property. The standard delivery location is the border of your property or the entrance of a communal space. If other arrangements need to be made, please get in touch with us as soon as the order is placed.
Vouchers and small boxes can be posted through the letterbox, provided there is unrestricted access to it.
Bamboos can be grown almost anywhere, but avoid excessively windy locations. Many can be grown in sun or shade (sun is usually best for colour).Bamboos are generally shallow rooted and prefer a rich, moisture retentive, organic soil.
Before planting out, the roots should be soaked in water for some time, and after planting it is important that the plant is watered well.
Hardy species of bamboo which were grown in pots can be planted anytime during the year, except in frozen ground.
With items such as ferns, juvenile tree ferns and herbaceous plants it is difficult to give the exact size of each species when such a wide range of plants are grown so we specify standard pot sizes to give an indication of the size and/or age of the plant you are buying.
Sometimes the pot size might vary slightly from the standard or we might listed as 2-3 litre pot, depending on the growers we purchased them from. However, the sizes of the plants are similar in height and spread.
Sometimes the plants might be photographed in decorative pots. However, please bear in mind that our plants are kept in plastic nursery pots.
For the outdoor plants, that are meant to be planted in the ground, the height of the pot is excluded from the measurement. The height is measured from the top of the pot to the tallest leaf or branch of the plant.
All plants are measured when brought to our nursery, however, due to natural factors, the actual size of the plant might change over time due to adjustments to the environment. When picking multiple plants for an order, we aim to pick matching plants.

10 fargesia robusta Campbell arrived in excellent condition and on time. 5 stars. Particularly useful to be able to buy juvenile plants, I can sit back and marvel at their youthful enthusiasm...
Arrived very healthy, great service from the Palm Centre.

Very disappointed when the Robusta arrived. It was wrapped in cling film and parcel tape at the base which damaged the new shoots. Overall, the bamboo was in poor condition - very spindly and yellow/pale green leaves. I did write to complain but no reply.

Palm Centre Reply: We're so sorry to hear you're not happy with your bamboo. We can't find your email anywhere I'm afraid, you can call us anytime so we can discuss further. The cling film is a standard packaging and the tape at the base is to secure the cling film to the pot. The Fargesia rufa Campbell loose leaves over winter and the ones remaining could be turning yellow as the bamboo is most of the time pot bound. Once repotted or planted in the ground it will establish really well fast and shoot new growth.

Arrived in good condition. Well wrapped. Plants ordered were advertised as about 2 foot tall but are easily 3 to 4 foot which is a bonus. Thanks!
I was pleased to find this bamboo available in midsummer, as many nurseries were out of stock. Service was friendly, with the company making a phone call to check collection arrangements. The 9.5 litre pot gave a mature plant with the tallest stems reaching 165 cm - quite a bit taller than promised.
The plants arrived on time and were very carefully packed. I was very impressed by the care taken. I have planted the bamboos and so far they look happy. It is too early to say how they will turn out but I am sure that they will prosper.
Arrived quickly in great condition. Well packaged and looks great now planted out in my garden. Thank you :)
Lovely bamboo, great service and free palm as well - very pleased
