Plant Biography

Originally known as Borinda angustissima, this is one of a number of elegant bamboos that has earned a place in UK gardens. It grows up to 4-5 metres tall so choose its planting site with care.

In good conditions it will grow canes up to an inch in diameter and this, together with the cane colour and pretty leaf shape justify its increasing popularity.

Care & Size Guidance

Care & Size Guidance

Fargesia angustissima grows quite tall but may be controlled by judicious trimming. It is quite dense and so is excellent as a barrier or hedge.

That said, it will benefit from a somewhat protected position as it is less wind tolerant than some other bamboos.
