Although technically a running bamboo, in UK conditions Golden bamboo is one of the better behaved Phyllostachys species and, in many ways, could be considered as an ideal garden bamboo.
It grows straight, almost completely upright culms and is quite tolerant of wind - making it an ideal plant for hedges as well as a solitary specimen.
A strongly ornamental feature of the culms themselves is the attractive clustering of the rings (nodes) that give rise to its use as fishing rods and walking stick handles.

We can guarantee that the plants leave our nursery disease free, but weather and local conditions might affect their survival. Make sure you always make an informed purchasing decision.
The plants that leave our nursery are in the best condition, free of disease. Kept in adequate conditions (positioning and care), the plants are guaranteed for 3 months if they are planted in the ground or one year if they are kept in their original pots. Return policy applies only to plants that are in their original pots.
Due to the nature of the consignments, the courier's drivers are not insured to carry goods through your property. The standard delivery location is the border of your property or the entrance of a communal space. If other arrangements need to be made, please get in touch with us as soon as the order is placed.
Vouchers and small boxes can be posted through the letterbox, provided there is unrestricted access to it.
Bamboos can be grown almost anywhere, but avoid excessively windy locations. Many can be grown in sun or shade (sun is usually best for colour).Bamboos are generally shallow rooted and prefer a rich, moisture retentive, organic soil.
Before planting out, the roots should be soaked in water for some time, and after planting it is important that the plant is watered well.
Hardy species of bamboo which were grown in pots can be planted anytime during the year, except in frozen ground.

Unfortunately our bamboo arrived in quite bad condition. Many of the leaves were dying and it had been bent during delivery so we now have a wonky bamboo! I did consider returning but as you don’t get the delivery cost back and have to cover the cost of returning the plant decided it wasn’t worth it. Hopefully the plant will recover in time but the quality was certainly not what I expected. I won’t be buying again sorry!
Communication from point of order to delivery was great.

Plants have just arrived and I'm really impressed! They were well packaged for transit, and even better quality than expected. I tried a different supplier last year and was disappointed…wish I'd gone to The Palm Centre first!

The courier was really helpful too, navigating round an access restriction which could have been a delivery show-stopper!

Bought this bamboo plant as a gift for a friend, it arrived in fantastic condition. Bigger than I thought it would be and very healthy. Will not hesitate in ordering more plants from here in the future. Thank you for the professional service you provide.
It is simply brilliant, bamboo looked great and soothing. Initially I had issues with bamboo due to fault of courier company (not the sender). However, Palmcentre customer team was very kind and rectified it immediately. Great product and most importantly one of the best customer service. I highly recommend PalmCentre.
