Care & Size Guidance

Care & Size Guidance

Derived from a genus that enjoy wet riverbanks across South East Asia and beyond, ‘Polly’ thrives in a warm bright room with excellent humidity levels.

In the growing season, feed and water regularly when soil surface begins to dry – allowing soil to dry out more in the Winter. The leaf tips will drip water if they have been saturated, so if you see this regularly it may indicate over watering.

This variety stays smaller than many Alocasias, making it very adaptable to smaller spaces – reaching a maximum of only 60cm at maturity.

Fun factoid

Although 'amazonica' seems to suggest that this plant is native to the Amazon River in Brazil, none of the species of Alocasia are native to South America. The name actually comes from the nursery where the hybrid was created, called Amazon Nursery, in Miami, Florida.
