Growing to 10 feet tall and wide, the variegated form of the Fatsia japonica has palmate leaves that are green and shiny with striking golden yellow to creamy white edges. It has round clusters of small white flowers appearing in autumn with black fruit following. It is very happy in deep shade, prefers well-drained soil and is frost hardy. It is not uncommon for this plant to be sold as a houseplant. A good talking point in a garden as the variegated fatsia is a rare plant to find.
