A well-known, pretty, and pretty tough, fern for the shady garden or border, which is native to Europe including the UK. Fresh green leaves are produced in late spring or early summer. Requires good drainage, but is not fussy about soil type though in the wild it tends to prefer acid soil. Keep soil moist for best results, and choose a spot in semi-shade, as a hot, dry position might scorch the new leaves. MG.
