This cycad is closely related to E. altensteinii and was once classified as such. It was re-classified in 1951 once more taxonomic work had been done on the species and many more interesting forms were found in the province after which it is named (Natal). This cycad prefers full sun and is adaptable to many soil types. Protect from frost. MG
