Phormiums are exotic-looking, clump-forming, evergreen plants with erect, sword shaped leaves in a variety of colours. Upright flower-spikes appear annually adding to the plants' attractiveness. Can usually tollerate -5C. Grow in moist fertile soil.
The 'Rainbow Queen' has purple coloured leaves with pink streaks, grows to about 180cm (6ft). MG
