This is one of more commonly known South African cycads and has a claim to fame as being the oldest known pot plant. A specimen of E. altensteinii has been in cultivation at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew since 1777! This is a very attractive cycad that will tolerate sun or shade and is well suited as a container plant in home or conservatory. MG
