Agaves are popular in Mediterranean-style gardens for their thick blue fleshy leaves and exotic appearance. They require very well drained soil and a sunny position. Given those, they grow - slowly - over a period of years to a good size. As desert plants they are also perfect for the hot, dry, bright conservatory. Very hardy in the winter if kept bone dry. MG
