Chambeyronia macrocarpa – Red Leaf palm
Pronounced ‘shambeyronia….’, this is a fascinating palm from New Caledonia which shows great promise as a house- or conservatory plant. It has dark green, feather-shaped leaves but its most famous characteristic is that they open bright scarlet red and stay that way for several weeks. It is easy to look after and does best in rich soil with plenty of water in warm weather. Highly recommended and rarely available.
