One of the most majestic of the Australian cycads, it produces a stout trunk and a spreading crown of date palm-like blue-green leaves, held erect. Tolerates heavy frosts when larger but needs summer heat to grow well. Even so it is very slow growing; perhaps a metre of trunk in 50 years. Best as a conservatory plant in the UK. MG
